The questions were a mix of static GK and current affairs. Most of you found this section moderate. Here are some questions from today’s paper:

Questions Asked in SSC CGL Tier I 7th September 2016 Shift 1 – English Language:
The level of English Language Section waseasy to moderate.
The exam had 1 reading comprehension passage and 5 corresponding questions. The passage was based on the story of a magic tree, where a parrot comes to stay at night.
Fill in the Blanks
The questions had one blank each and you had to choose the correct option to fill in the blank. There were 3 questions in total. These were similar to the questions asked in SSC CGL 28th August Shift 1 exam, which are:

Synonyms and Antonyms
Around 1-2 questions synonyms and antonyms questions appeared in the exam.
There was 1 spelling correction question, which was easy. The question was similar to the ones usually asked, for example, a recently asked question was: How is the following word spelt? – counterfeit.
Phrase or Idiom Meaning
It was a moderate set and involved straightforward questions. You had to explain the meaning of phrases/idioms like straw in the wind, etc.
One Word Substitution
You had to substitute the statement given in the exam with a word. This question was easy to moderate. An example of a similar question asked in SSC CGL 1st September Shift 1 is, “what is the word used to describe ‘declared as outside the protection of the law?” – Outlaw.
Questions Asked in SSC CGL Tier I 7th September 2016 Shift 1 – Quantitative Aptitude:
The questions were similar to the ones asked in earlier exams. The level of the quant section was easy to moderate in this paper. There was a pie-chart depicting the number of below poverty-line people. Following are the questions asked in yesterday’s exam for reference:
tan(a-b) = 1 & sec(a+b) = 2/√3 , if b is positive; Find the minimum value of a.
a+1/b = 1; b+ 1/c = 1; then find c+1/a =?
An equilateral triangle has side 24cm. There is a circle inscribed in it, touching all sides. Find the area of the unoccupied region?
x men can finish a job in 60 days. If 6 more men are added to them, then it takes 20 days less for them to finish the same work. Find x.
Questions Asked in SSC CGL Tier I 7th September 2016 Shift 1 – General Intelligence & Reasoning:
This section was quite easy in the SSC CGL 7th September Shift 1 exam. Some of the questions appeared from previous years’ questions papers. A number of questions were asked from series. There were 2 questions in non-verbal reasoning – 1 on paper folding and 1 on mirror image. Rest of the questions were similar to the questions asked in other SSC CGL Tier I exam this year.
