The SSC recently announced an examination for recruitment of Junior Engineers (JE), to Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will hold this examination in two phases. While the 1st phase (Paper I), will be a Computer based exam, the 2nd Phase (Paper II) will be a written exam. If you score equal to or higher than the minimum qualifying marks (to be decided by SSC), you will qualify for Paper II. There will be no further interview in the SSC JE Exam for the purpose of selection. Since the last date to apply for the exam is 31st October 2016, we suggest you apply for the exam at the earliest.

Salary/Grade Pay for SSC Junior Engineer

Your salary/grade pay will range in the Pay Band of Rs.9300 – 34800/- plus Grade Pay Rs.4200/- (pre-revised).

Application Fee and Mode of Payment

  • You need to pay the application fee of Rs. 100/- while submitting your application online.
  • The official notification clearly instructs you to apply online. No other mode of application will be acceptable.
  • Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Physically handicapped and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from paying fee.
  • You have to make the payment online, while submitting your application.
  • Fee paid in respect of online applications through SBI Challan / Net banking and any credit and debit cards will be accepted.
  • The fee is non-refundable.

  • In Paper-I, 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Choose your subjects for Part-A, B and C according to the post you are applying for. If you fail in the subject that you choose, your answer sheet will not be evaluated.
  • You will be  allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam Table for Paper-II only. You are not allowed to use such aids for Paper-I.
  • Your answer sheets will be made available to you by SSC after the examination. You can raise your objections at that time, if you have any.

  2. Carefully fill the form.
  3. Submit the form and make the online payment.
  4. Alternatively, go to the official website of SSC  and click the link ‘Notice-Junior Engineers Examination, 2016′.
  5. Then click on ‘click here’ under ‘Form’ for the notification dated ’30th September 2016′.
  6. Follow step 2 & 3 given above.

Selection Procedure

You will be selected on the basis of total marks obtained by you in Paper I and Paper II. In cases two or more candidates score equal aggregate marks, tie will be resolved by applying the following methods one after another:-

  • Total Marks in Paper-II
  • Total Marks in Paper-I
  • Date of birth, with older candidates placed higher.
  • Alphabetic order in the first names of the candidates appeared.

Posting Location

All the posts carry All India Service Liability (AISL) i.e. the candidate, on selection, may be asked to serve anywhere in the country.
